The internationally recognised PME Professional Diploma and Masters Certificate qualifications are highly sought-after within the cake making industry. These diploma courses are suitable for all skill levels and are open to the hobbyist as well as those who plan to or are already running a cake decorating business. They are of particular interest to those who want to produce decorated cakes to a professional standard and advance their skills to help them stand out from many 'self taught' cake decorators.

There are three PME Professional Diploma Courses each specialising in a particular area of sugarcraft. You will be awarded a Diploma Certificate upon full attendance and successful completion of the skills outlined in each Diploma course. Once you have achieved all three Diplomas, you will be awarded the PME Masters Certificate. Our courses are taught in English, are intensive and fast paced. To get the most out of them, if you are a complete beginner, you may find it useful to gain some basic cake decorating skills, perhaps by attending one or more of our Beginner Certificate Classes / Wilton Method® Courses before you take the Diploma courses or at least consider attending the PME Sugarpaste Diploma first. As our courses are taught over consequtive days there is NO homework.

Our recently refurbished classroom, seating up to a maximum of 8 students, is based at Items for Sugarcraft Centre in Kenley, Surrey, our venue is accessible worldwide. We are only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport by train/car. We are close to the M25 (Jct 6) and there are 45 minute fast transport links via East Croydon to London Victoria & London Bridge Stations (ideal if flying into Heathrow Airport), Accommodation is available nearby.Classroom PME RI

Inspired Creations will provide FREE use of all the equipment needed to complete each diploma. Each student also receives a complimentary course kit, there is a different one for each diploma. The kit contains much of the equipment required to complete each course. With the exception of our 12 Day 'all inclusive' course, we ask that you supply your own materials. Items for Sugarcraft Centre, our 'on site' shop offer a 'pre-order & delivered direct to the classroom service' with a 10% discount on purchases made whilst attending your course. For your convenience, if you are travelling a distance or are short of time Inspired Creations are able to supply sponge and fruit cakes. We recommend that you bring reading glasses, a notebook, pen and a camera to each lesson, you will also need to bring your lunch each day as food is not provided.

PME Diploma Course - Fondant/Sugarpaste - 4 Day Intensive (25 hours)

The PME Sugarpaste Skills Diploma is an Internationally recognised Certificate course packed full of everything you need to know about working with sugarpaste to professionally cover cakes and make cake decorations.

If you are self taught or fairly new to cake decorating this 4 day intensive course is an ideal way to get to grips with cake covering skills and working with sugarpaste. This course is FAST PACED! If you are completely new to cake decorating, it may help if you have some experience using sugarpaste before you attend. Our one day beginner level workshops 'Introduction to Sponge Cake Covering & Character Modelling Skills' or 'The Wilton Method - Course 3 - Gum Paste & Fondant' will teach you the basics, although this is not a requirement.

 

Working on three main projects you will learn and practice many basic techniques such as:

  • Coating fruit cakes, sponge cakes & dummies, Crimping & Embossing
  • Fabric Effects, Swags, Drapes, Frills & Flounces
  • Ribbons, Bows, Sugar Embroidery, Pastillage,  
  • Modelling Fun Figures, Simple sculpted Novelty Cake

You will have free use of all our equipment, such as turntable, rolling pin etc. You will also receive a complimentary Course Kit (worth approx. £49) containing a workbook and all the other equipment you require to complete the course.We do ask that you supply your own materials such as marzipan, sugarpaste, boxes, boards etc. A list is emailed to you once you have made your booking, as an estimate these items will total about £45. In addition you will need a particular size fruit cake, two sponge cakes and a quantity of buttercream, recipes will be provided. If you prefer and for your convenience, you can 'pre-order' from our 'on-site' shop and receive 10% off your purchases, everything is then placed into our classroom ready for your first lesson. For all our classes, we recommend that you bring a notebook, pen and a camera to your lessons, you will also need to bring your lunch each day as food is not provided.

The PME Royal Icing & Piping Skills Diploma is an Internationally recognised Certificate course packed full of everything you need to know about working successfully with royal icing to coat and decorate cakes and will take you to an intermediate level.

This course is FAST PACED! It will help if you have some experience working with royal icing before you attend. You may wish to consider attending 'The Wilton Method Course 2 - Royal Icing (Flowers & Cake Design)' first, this will teach you the basics.

 

Working on two main projects, you will learn and practice many techniques:

  • How to Marzipan a cake & coat using Royal Icing, preparing & storing Royal Icing. 
  • Piping techniques from shells, scrolls, straight lines, bulbs, rope boarders to piped flowers, inscriptions, templates, scroll boarders, runout collars & extention boarders, motifs, lettering, numbering.
  • Brush embroidery, lace designs, advanced piped boarders, bridges, & extension border designs, piped lace, side designs, assembling multi tiered cakes, cake portioning, cutting, assembly & presentation. 
  • An insight into the business end of cake decorating covering areas such as packaging, transport & delivery costs, cake pricing guidelines.

The PME Professional Diploma & PME Professional Masters Certificates are Internationally recognised packed full of everything you need to know about working with sugarpaste, royal icing and making sugar flowers.

In this FAST PACED, 12 day course the aim is for you to work towards and achieve all three PME Diploma Certificates and gain your PME Masters Certificate in a concentrated space of time. This course is a popular choice with our International Students and those resident in the UK who need to travel a distance and stay in accommodation to attend. We are within close proximity of the M25 (Jct 6) and there are easy transport links to Croydon, Central London, Gatwick & Heathrow Airports.

This course is 'all inclusive'; your cakes, buttercream, materials, packaging will be provided. You will have free use of our equipment. Also included is a complimentary course kit for each Diploma (each worth £49), containing a workbook and the equipment you will use to complete your course. So all you need to bring with you are your reading glasses, notebook, pen, camera and your lunch as food is not provided.
